I got my little cold farme constructed about a month ago and this is where I'm at. I'm really looking forward to starting super early next season, but it's very exciting to have some greens to be eating while the temperature still dips below freezing at night time.
I had a busy day harvesting ramps this morning, cleaning them up, and working at my regular job. I was also able to swing by my friend's at Spring Wind Farm to pick up a couple of dozen fresh eggs. After work this afternoon I walked some wood over a block to EcoGardens where Howie taught me how to use his power tools to make some precision cuts for my future raised perennial herb bed (I traded some ramps for his knowledge and access to his tools!). Then I had a couple of beers and constructed it, now I'm looking forward to filling it up with dirt tomorrow morning and planting herbs.
Today was an absolutely gorgeous spring day and this evening myself, my fiancee, Dan, and a few friends enjoyed some beer and grilling. We made 1000 Hills Burgers and smothered them with some Fini Cheddar Cheese from Fairbault, my Minnesota Ramp Pesto, and some local hydroponic tomatoes.... deeelicious!
