I also had a great time visiting 5 different co-ops in NH and VT and a couple of farmers markets in VT. I bought plenty of NY Maple Syrup at one of the farmers markets and also scored a jar of pickled fiddleheads and Skyr in VT. Skyr is something I have never heard of and it is sooo delicious, unfortunatley, I think it's one of those treats that will be reserved for the random times I happen to be in Bennington, VT at their Farmers Mkt. Basically it's an icelandic yogurt made from skimmed cows milk, the variety I bought was maple flavored. Yum! I miss it already.
I also hiked up the tallest points in NH and MA, Mt Washington and Mt Greylock. Hiking the tallest point in every state is on my bucket list. I've done plenty of the happy midwestern and eastern mtns.... someday I'll start the mega ones out west!
Anyways, it was very very fun and I'm going to miss the beauty out east and my amazing family, but it's also always comforting to come home. And it was exciting to see the progress of our garden and of the farm I'm working with after 10 days. A lot happened! Yesterday, my friend Sam visited and she helped Dan and I weed the garden and put up some posts for a future fence around it (looks like some bunnies have been eating our bean plants). And today I spent some time out at SEEDS Farm checking out their progress (a lot!), I mended the fence for the goats and then picked up some irrigation pieces that will be connected tomorrow (it is very very hot, humid, and not rainy right now). Thankfully, it's going to dip down a bit for the next couple of days, phew:)
